Oranges from Algarve PGI

The oranges harvested in the Algarve region can be considered “Orange from Algarve” if they have the PGI certification (Protected Geographical Indication). The Oranges from Algarve PGI have a thin peel and are quite juicy and sweet. The regional climate allows for two peaks of production in December / January and in June / July. To be a Orange from Algarve PGI has to be of one of the following varieties: Navelina, Newhall and Valencia Late.
